Daan van den Oever is a post-doctoral researcher at the Advanced X-ray Tomographic Imaging Group with Ioannis Sechopoulos. He joined the group the 1st of July 2021 and will work on optimizing the synergy between traditional and AI algorithms in image formation methods. Daan studied Technical Medicine at the Twente University with a master in Medical Imaging & Interventions. His master thesis was on quantification of ASL and DTI Data in the Brain of Patients with Alzheimer’s Disease. His PhD thesis is titled ‘deep learning in cardiac imaging’ and was on automatic coronary artery calcium scoring in low-dose CT scans. Side projects included automatic segmentation of organs-at-risk and better evaluation reporting for AI papers. This research was performed at the department of radiation oncology at the University Medical Center Groningen.
