Marta Pinto studied Biomedical Engineering at Faculty of Science and Technology of NOVA University of Lisbon (Portugal). She graduated in November 2017 when she obtained her MSc degree in Biomedical Engineering with her thesis “Validity of 4DCT determined internal target volumes in radiotherapy for free breathing lung cancer patients”. Her thesis was done abroad in Uppsala University Hospital (Sweden) in the Anders Ahnesjö’s Medical Radiotion Physics group. Afterwards, she moved back to Portugal and integrated the Laseeb group in the Instituto Superior Técnico, where she worked with fMRI simulations in order to implement a reconstruction method that enables the fast acquisition of fMRI data. She joined Advanced X-ray Tomographic Imaging (AXTI) lab within the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine in November 2018 as a PhD student, under the supervision of Ioannis Sechopoulos. Her research project consists in developing and evaluating novel image processing methods to optimize the quality and reading accuracy in digital breast tomosynthesis.
